Model cells for epithelia and mesenchyme, Methanobacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and other human pathogens

Live-cell imaging, superresolution microscopy, traction force microscopy, microfabrication, IR spectroscopy, computational modeling, analytical theory

We combine a theoretical-physics perspective with wet-lab experiments to study living systems. Focus topics include 1 cellular micromechanics of tissue cells and pathogens, 2 behavioral optimization and organization principles for cells and pathogens, and 3 understanding mechanisms of greenhouse gas production in the bovine rumen microbiome.
