Viruses exploit the host cell machinery for efficient replication. Given their well-documented adaptation to their natural host, we have a long-standing interest in studying species-specific virus-host interactions, including those of ancient viruses. Based on our initial studies, we also focus on the interplay between SAMHD1 and Vpx in the context of cancer and the development of protein delivery tools.
