Three renowned scientists from the Munich biomedical community will not only talk about their research focus, but will also share insights on their own successes and current challenges and perspectives on diversity in the broader sense. Our goal is to initiate exchange and conversation with the audience in different settings.
Our expert speakers:
- Kikuë Tachibana (MPI of Biochemistry) Rise and SINE: Transcriptional “awakening” at the start of life
- Ali Ertürk (iTERM, Helmholtz Munich) AI-driven biomedicine for all
- Ulrike Protzer (Institute for Virology, TUM and Helmholtz Munich) Immune therapy to cure chronic HBV infection
The lectures will be followed by meet-the-speaker sessions for discussion in smaller groups on diversity in career and personal paths. We encourage especially early career scientists – who may be facing diversity challenges themselves – to speak up, ask questions and exchange with the speakers, as well as amongst other attendees! Some guiding questions might be:
- What achievement are you most proud of in science?
- What were the biggest challenges in terms of diversity that you encountered in your career?
- In your career as a scientist, have there been changes in the field in terms of diversity?
We conclude by further networking and mingling with an informal get-together and refreshments.
